Frozen Majesty Under the Bridge at Letchworth
I was deep into my winter journey across the Finger Lakes when I found myself drawn toward Letchworth’s snow-laden gorge. The world felt hushed, wrapped in its frozen cloak. I could taste the sharp bite of winter on my tongue—crisp, metallic, electric. My breath rose in pale clouds that drifted upward like small spirits escaping into the gray afternoon sky.
Snow crunched under my boots as I trudged along the trail, the familiar whisper of the wind weaving through the pines. Every exhale warmed the scarf around my face just enough to let it freeze again. The air smelled of ice, stone, and distant water—clean and ancient.
When I finally rounded the bend, I stopped dead in my tracks.
